Materials and Medium

Harshpreet makes her custom portraits using graphite, and charcoal. Sometimes, she combines both graphite and charcoal to give the best quality work to her collectors. Harshpreet uses mainly two types of paper for her drawings. For her smaller size work, she uses Mix Media Paper; this paper is 260 to 300 gsm in weight and has a bright white color. This paper is archival and is acid-free. For 12x16 drawings, she uses Aquapress (Hot Press) Watercolor paper. This paper is 300 gsm and has an off-white warm color. This paper is archival, acid-free, 100% cotton, and has a highly smooth surface.

Finish

After the drawing is complete, Harshpreet adds two layers of fixative to the artwork. Fixative helps the artwork stay protected from dust. smudging, and overtime fading away. The paper she uses in archival and the fixative finish increase the life of the artwork.

Materials and Medium

For her paintings, Harshpreet works on canvas stretched on wood. One of her favorite media is Opus Exhibition Slim Canvas which is 100% cotton canvas stretched on basswood. Initial canvas weight is 237 gsm and with primer, the weight is aprrox 336 gsm. For oil paintings, Harshpreet adds two to three more layers of gesso to protect the paint from cracking overtime. This canvas is backwrapped, stapled, and is 0.75in deep which is perfect for hanging on its own. For more information on her painting processes, please email Harshpreet at info@harshpreetkaur.com.

Finish

After the painting is complete, Harshpreet adds two layers of matte or gloss varnish to the artwork. Varnish helps the artwork stay protected from dust and general wear and tear. The canvas is already primed and the varnish finish increases the life of the artwork.
